For 60 years Sill-TerHar Motors has been serving clients around the country from their Broomfield Ford dealership. The decades-old company began in 1960 by Jack TerHar Sr., a third- generation Coloradan, who brought on other family members to help launch what would become a greatly successful business.

Their mission was always clear, “to provide an individualized experience that leaves the client with a sense of community connection rather than simply having high sales and high unit numbers,” says PT Ertl, Director of marketing and technology at the dealership. By opting away from traditional sales tactics that include pressuring the client into purchasing, the salespeople at Sill-TerHar Motors (STHMotors.com) instead focus on earning customers for life.

“Our customers know what they want and just need a friend to show them the way,” says Ertl. This approach has paid off well for the company as well as their employees who have gained recognition on a national scale.

“Our strongest asset is the people who work here,” says Ertl. “Ford hands out a President’s Award for dealers who are successful in sales and maintain a high level of customer happiness. We have won 19 of them so far, and that puts us in the top 1 percent of all dealers nationwide.”

Many employees are from the Broomfield area and have a direct connection to the community they serve—expect to see familiar faces on your visit to the store! Even during Covid, they have provided over 150 jobs and remain optimistic for the future.

And although the future remains uncertain for many businesses during these unprecedented times, the company is focused on bringing in the newest releases from Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Volvo, and Maserati. They also continue to be a key player in the electric car market by bringing in the newest and most innovative technologies for the community to adopt.

Giving back has been a mainstay for the brand. Over the years they have supported Broomfield High School’s sports teams, from soccer to the cheer squad, by purchasing score boards and trophies for state champions. In addition, they have contributed to the Broomfield Foundation and worked with Bal Swan Children’s Center where young kids with disabilities are brought together to forge a space where diversity in ability is celebrated.

For Sill-TerHar Motors, 60 years in business means generational success—proving that hard work, employing local talent, and putting clients’ needs first is the key to longevity. Despite being a smaller company competing against some of the largest corporate dealerships, it is clear that their momentum is only building.

An Enduring Legacy

Lifetime Broomfield resident Greg Larson is the appointed figurehead to take the reins of the company moving forward. Larson was chosen by Jack TerHar himself to lead the team with a focus on tradition. And his years of industry experience paired with his charitable and economic contributions to the brand make him the best person for the job. When not working, Larson enjoys time cooking, enjoying diverse activities across Colorado with his wife and two daughters, and he greatly looks forward to post-Covid potlucks with his team.

Nice Ride
