Fun for the Whole Family

With our DIY Playdough Recipe

Did you know that you can make Play Dough at home using a handful of basic pantry ingredients? Our easy recipe takes less than 30 minutes. It might come together even faster if the whole family pitches in! Let your little ones measure all the ingredients, and the older kids can help stir and cook the dough (with supervision). Everyone can take a turn adding the food coloring at the end.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • assorted food coloring

Instructions

  1. Mix together all the ingredients, except the food coloring, in a large saucepan.

  2. Cook over low/medium heat, stirring. Once it begins to thicken, add the food coloring (separate into different bowls if making more than one color).

  3. Continue stirring until the mixture is much thicker and begins to gather around the spoon.

  4. Once the dough is not wet, remove and put onto wax paper or a plate to cool.

  5. After cooling (30 minutes) knead play dough for a few seconds.

    PLAY!

  6. Store in an airtight container in the fridge!
