At Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort & Spa, where you’ll find the world’s fifth-longest golf course with 18 holes, you can certainly get in your share of golfing. Or you can choose to do nothing more than unwind. If you go for the latter—golf included or not—you’ll find an inviting experience that serves up a pampering and relaxing getaway at this property in Hoover, Alabama, near Birmingham.
Spa time is always in order and at The Spa at Ross Bridge, you’ll find services ranging from body treatments and massages to facials and nail services. For this writer who is frequently challenged to find time for pampering, the full-service spa’s Head to Toe massage was just the reset needed. It also proved to be a lifesaver for the back pain and tension my teenage daughter was feeling prior to getting her first professional massage.
From our room, having the option of a view of the terrace area—other options include pool and resort views—both from inside the room and from our balcony proved an added bonus as we recharged. What’s more is we never had to leave the castle-like setting, as not only is there golfing on the 8,191-yard Robert Trent Jones Trail Golf Course and a consistently relaxing room stay or invigorating spa experience, but on-site dining options as well. If golf’s not your thing, you can play tennis, volleyball, or arcade games at this resort, built in 2005, that has recently undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation.
There were many options for lounging, whether in the lobby or outdoors and there was also the opportunity to fit in a bit of exercise or a stroll on the nearby walking trails. You’ll even be tempted to venture over to the adjacent Ross Bridge community, where you’ll find a playground, shops, and residential area.
At just under a three-hour drive from Atlanta, Renaissance Ross Bridge can make for a quick getaway for a special celebration—be it an anniversary, birthday, or whenever a home-away-from-home experience is calling.
