From Our Homes to Yours

It's been a whirlwind year and we want to say thank you for making it so worthwhile! 2018 welcomed a lot of new blood--Aaron Blair, our new publisher infused very welcome energy into the magazine. My newest addition, Indra Leimkuehler, has taken me back to the simple things--the beauty of a fleeting smile, the true value of uninterrupted sleep (Thank you for being a good sleeper to my eldest daughter, Iris!), and how truly blessed I am to have healthy children and the opportunity to spend time with them when they are small.

Northland Lifestyle has always had a motto--Inspired by Community. On its own, that could be dismissed as just another marketing phrase but I'm proud to say that it is taken to heart with every issue. One of the joys of my work is meeting new people, getting to know their families, and connecting with the neighborhoods that I live, shop, and play within.

This holiday season, both Aaron and I want to extend our deepest thanks for reading our work every month. We hope that you and your family are warm, safe, and loved as we celebrate this time of year, whether your chosen holiday is Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, or Festivus. Let's raise a glass to 2018 and welcome 2019 together with one of my favorite cocktails, the French 75.

French 75

  • 1.5 oz of J. Rieger Midwestern Dry Gin
  • .75 oz of fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • .5 oz of lavender infused simple syrup
  • 2 oz of dry sparkling wine

Combine first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds to mix and chill. strain into a champagne flute and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with a spring of lavender and a thin spiral of lemon peel. Enjoy!
