Who inspired you to go into your field of work?

I have a friend, Trent Akins. He went into pharmacy school and convinced me to go down that road. I’ve always been very good with math and science, and I love helping people, so that fell right into place with what a pharmacist does.

What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

The satisfaction of helping people. We do traditional retail pharmacy, but we also do a lot of special orders and custom compounding, where we make prescriptions from scratch. If a child has allergies to certain ingredients, we can compound a similar product that doesn’t have the allergens in it. We specifically do a lot with women who are having hormonal issues. We can do a consultation, go over their lab work with them, and custom design a prescription or compound that can help them.

What is your favorite thing about Evans?

One thing we like most about Evans is the community events that they have at the Lady Antebellum Amphitheatre. It’s fun to go out there and watch Pops under the Stars or a fireworks display.

What is your favorite hobby?

I’m a big fan of staying healthy, so I do quite a bit of jogging and biking. I love to hunt and fish as well.

What inspired you to go into your field of work?

As a child, I would rearrange my room and float furniture in the middle of the floor. So, I’ve always had that design flair. I went away to college for theatre but decided that’s not what I was meant to do. I reflected and thought about what I really wanted to do, then went back and got an Interior Design degree.

What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

Being able to get my clients’ homes to reflect their lifestyles, who they are, and who they want to be perceived as.

What is your favorite thing about Evans?

We moved here in 2005 from Washington, D.C. so first and foremost, we love the cost of living here. It’s a safe community, such a beautiful area, and the people are charming and authentic. It feels relaxed here in Evans.

Evans has been so amazing to me and supportive and allowed me to grow…so I’m just trying to give back to the community in my design expertise, offering them something. We’re currently building a new store that’s going to house a lot more furniture and home accessories for everyone too.

What is your favorite hobby?

My hobbies have changed over the years. I used to own the world’s largest collection of Judy Garland memorabilia. I traveled around the world and had amazing experiences. I auctioned everything off about 3 years ago because that hobby turned into a business of its own - it became too serious, and it was no longer a hobby really. But, I still love classic film – the musicals, the dramas. I love movies from the 40’s especially.

Who inspired you to go into your field of work?

There are a number of sources of inspiration. We try to equip leaders to value relationships and take care of people. Over the course of my army career, I was exposed to a number of great leaders, and I modeled my own style after people I believe were really effective and took care of people.

What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

The most fulfilling part is knowing that we’ve made a difference in the life of someone. Every now and then, we’ll get a story about an experience we’ve walked people through and how that experience has changed the way they see the world and live in it.

What is your favorite thing about Evans?

Without question - the people. I learned that the first week we were here. We’d moved here from the D.C. area, and we were at Shane’s Rib Shack during Christmas. We were walking out of Shane’s and said good night to the owner. He said good night to us, and all of a sudden three or four families in the restaurant were all saying good night and Merry Christmas. That was very atypical of what we were used to.

What is your favorite outdoor activity?

That’s easy - bass fishing! That would be my second favorite thing about Evans. I can be out of the bed, eat breakfast, and be fishing within 30 minutes.

Who inspired you to go into your field of work?

I initially planned on going into medicine. My dad and granddad were both physicians. I figured out that wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do. The first day I shadowed my family dentist, I told myself ‘this is exactly what I want to do.’ He was still in patient care, got to work with his hands, and be an artist but didn’t have the headaches of medicine.

What is the most fulfilling part of your job?

Two things are very satisfying: first - getting a patient out of pain. Knowing that I have the skill to take care of it and get them out of pain is extremely satisfying. Second - giving somebody a smile that they are happy with and proud of.

What is your favorite thing about Evans?

Having Savannah Rapids Pavilion nearby to be outside and enjoy the outdoors is one part I love about Evans. The other thing is that there are a decent number of events at Evans Towne Center that we’ve enjoyed throughout the years like Rock Fore Dough. They are fun for the community and helpful for businesses around the area too.

What is your favorite hobby?

Before kids, I had pretty good handicap in golf. After I had kids, I wasn’t able to play quite as much golf, but I enjoy a lot of time with them. We love boating, traveling, etc...Anything we can do as a family that is more active is what I prefer to do.
