Rheumatoid arthritis (also known as RA) wreaked havoc on Joseph Garcia's body for 20 years. The chronic inflammatory disorder affects many joints, including those in the hands and feet. The body’s immune system attacks its own tissue, including joints, and in severe cases, it attacks internal organs.
The treatment to keep RA at bay isn't much better. Garcia's medications compromised his immune system, making him susceptible to other illnesses and infections, which could eventually result in death.
Garcia explains what he was feeling and how he couldn’t take it any longer. “I got scared,” said Garcia, “and I told my wife I know I will be in pain if I stop taking my medication, but is it worth it? It’s going to kill me one way or another.”
In 2018, he quit taking the prescribed medication, opted for prednisone and ibuprofen, and started looking for alternative therapies. In the meantime, he admits not being on his medication took its toll. "I was cranky and in so much pain, I couldn't even walk my dog,” said Garcia.
Garcia, an accountant by day, heard about stem cell therapy from a client and started researching the treatment for his rheumatoid arthritis. Garcia did his due diligence and eventually met with Blake Youmans, CEO of Dynamic Stem Cell Therapy. After meeting with Youmans, Garcia knew this was the treatment for him.
Youmans explains, “Mr. Garcia was suffering from an autoimmune disease that demanded a ‘boost’ of healthy cells from the patient’s own body. We less than minimally manipulate the cells and then give them back to patients like Mr. Garcia (same day, same procedure) to help get to the root cause of inflammation and disease and then to mitigate and potentially re-regulate the body’s ability to function optimally again. The cells are like little surgeons. They recruit other cells with specialized functions to fix X, Y, and Z.”
"Stem cell therapy totally changed my life. It is fantastic and beautiful, something I want to share with everybody," says Garcia.
That is music to Youmans' ears. He built the Dynamic Stem Cell Therapy clinic in honor of his mother, Simong Youmans, M.D., who passed away in 2016 from cancer. Dr. Youmans was all about preventative medicine versus reactive medicine. "She was the visionary who started everything. On her deathbed, she said this was the best way to help the greatest number of people and why she was put on this earth," said Blake Youmans.
Youmans points out that stem cell therapy isn’t just for patients with chronic illness or disease. “Sometimes professional athletes or everyday people who like to hike or play pickleball or golf, which are not candidates for autologous stem cell treatments, can get healthy young cells from human umbilical cord tissue (not embryonic). Wharton’s jelly, which provides a rich source of live Mesenchymal stem cells (AKA: medicinal signaling cells), works amazingly fast and lasts a long time providing strength, stability, and potential freedom from pain so patients can play sports with a renewed quality of life,” says Youmans.
Youmans applauds his medical team, including Medical Director Dale Carrison, D.O.. Dr. Carrison has a wealth of knowledge and experience as an emergency physician and as the Medical Director of several Southern Nevada agencies, including the Clark County Fire Department and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
“Having the expertise and experience of a mentor to many, including myself, Dr. Dale Carrison will forever live on as a legend,” says Youmans. “He aligns with the company’s vision, shows empathy, and employs the same ethics. It’s all about the Hippocratic Oath-Do No Harm. We truly treat others how we like to be treated.”
Youmans admits stem cell therapy is not for everyone and is not the answer for every condition or disease. If you are considering it and are in the same boat as Joseph Garcia (for rheumatoid arthritis), it is important to consult an arthritis pain specialist. Youmans also suggests, “To determine if stem cell therapy could be an alternative treatment solution, you can get a free, no obligation, informative and educational consultation at Dynamic Stem Cell Therapy and decide what is best for you, as you know your body best and ultimately decide what to do with it.” With its ability to improve joint function, reduce pain and inflammation, and offer hope, it certainly was the best bet for Joseph Garcia.
He said enthusiastically, "I'm back to walking my dogs, and I walk at least 4.5 miles every day. It was the best money I ever spent because I could enjoy life again."
