Get In Alignment

Dr. Barrett Terry, with the The Joint Chiropractic, shares his insights into chiropratic medicine including pain relief

Chiropractic medicine is a natural way to improve health that has existed for more than a century. Based on the principle of the body’s ability to heal itself, chiropractic care focuses on the proper alignment of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine.

According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), 35 million Americans are treated annually by chiropractors. Those numbers continue to grow due to the continued demand for drug and surgery-free alternatives to pain management.

We chatted with Dr. Barrett Terry with The Joint Chiropractic, West U, to get a deeper insight into the practice and its benefits.

What is the goal of chiropractic medicine?

The goal is to adjust the body’s musculoskeletal system so that proper alignment can occur, allowing the body to heal without having to take medication or undergo surgery.

Why is spine health important?

The spine is the conduit carrying all messages from the brain to the rest of the body via the spinal cord and nervous system. The central nervous system controls every cell and organ in the body, so our cells must get the appropriate signals to function to their fullest potential.

What are the benefits of chiropractic care?

Homeostasis, or the body regulating itself, is one of the most important benefits of chiropractic care. Other vital benefits include increased range of motion, stress relief, improved posture, and decreased pain intensity throughout the body, reducing reliance on pain medications.

What services do you offer?

At The Joint Chiropractic, we provide routine and affordable chiropractic care through hands-on chiropractic adjustments, focusing on each patient’s unique needs and goals through various stages.

In the relief stage, our chiropractors will focus on reducing your pain over 4-6 weeks, with multiple weekly visits. The recovery phase focuses on supporting the body’s ability to heal itself. Finally, the wellness phase helps maintain the progress made during the relief and recovery phases.

Is regular chiropractic care for everyone?

Everyone can benefit from regular chiropractic care to prevent, diagnose, and treat spinal disorders; however, every person has different health needs and goals. It is perfectly acceptable to come to The Joint Chiropractic on an as-needed basis since we have convenient hours, no appointments required, and no insurance approvals needed.

What are the most common conditions you treat?

We treat back pain, headaches/migraines, joint pain, neck pain, sciatica, TMJ, and many other ailments.

What are the most common symptoms associated with spinal issues?

Common symptoms include pain, weakness, numbness/tingling, stiffness, fatigue, radiating pain, muscle tightness, and organ dysfunction.
