Hey guys! Has the dad bod run its course? Maybe you’re tired of feeling… well, tired–and are ready to make some changes. If you’re nodding your head in agreement, read on.
What better time to kick-start some healthy new routines or head back into the fitness game than this month, when we celebrate our rock-solid role models, dad-joking protectors, and reliable father figures? Do something just for you, and while you’re at it, sleep better, lower your stress and anxiety, and simply build a better version of yourself. But, you say, I’m busy, and I can’t do it alone! We’ve got you! We talked with Geo Villavicencio, general manager and coach at Crusher Fitness & Health, who says there’s nothing more rewarding than taking that first brave step. And if you’re still reading, it’s clear that you’re ready.
“Whether you’re brand new or returning after a break, our team loves watching someone gain strength, confidence, and pride in their effort; that’s what it’s all about,” Geo shares. And with that, he points out, comes setting good examples for peers and, most importantly, their families. Geo’s top advice for men who are either new to the gym or haven’t worked out in years: “Just walk through the door.” At Crusher, part of the mission is to make fitness approachable, inclusive, and not intimidating.
“We offer a supportive community where, no matter your fitness level, everyone has a place and feels like they belong.”
A common misconception is that you need to be fit before you even begin, but Geo says that’s not true–he emphasizes that what matters most is simply starting and committing to improving yourself. “At Crusher, our coaches are trained to work with you to find the pace that’s right for your body and goals.” Geo and his team understand that gyms can feel overwhelming, but he explains Crusher is different. “You won’t get lost in the crowd or left behind here. Our coaches give each person individualized attention, even in group classes. You’ll feel seen, supported, and welcomed from day one.”
Interested to see what a new health journey could look like for you? “A great beginner plan blends strength, cardio, movement variety, and also includes recovery–all of which are a focus in our programming,” Geo explains. He recommends starting with 2–3 classes a week to build a sustainable habit. “Our programs meet you where you’re at and evolve with you—we’re here to help you move well, feel strong, and stay consistent.”
And that word, consistency, is one that’s used a lot at Crusher. “We always say, ‘consistency over intensity,’ every time.” If you’re thinking about starting your journey at home, Geo notes that bodyweight squats, step-ups, push-ups (with modifications), light dumbbell work, and walking are all excellent ways to begin on your own. “But the real magic happens with coaching. At Crusher, we show you how to move safely and effectively, so even the simplest movement builds long-term strength and confidence.”
As you lace your sneakers, fill your water bottle, and start stretching (you are PUMPED!) Geo stresses that real transformation takes time. “Focus on the wins you can’t see in the mirror—better energy, improved sleep, lower stress. Show up, trust the process, and let the results follow.” He says it’s not about going all in. It’s about showing up, stacking wins, and making fitness part of your life–oh, and surrounding yourself with the supportive community at Crusher Fitness & Health.
