Gift Guide Goes Local

No Matter Who You’re Buying for, Get Your Holiday Presents from These Boulder Businesses

It’s that time of the year again to start thinking about what to get your loved ones for the holidays. It’s a process that has historically caused me, and many people I know, much stress. And I suppose that makes sense, as the holidays are an appropriate time to show the people who you care about most in life that you appreciate them with the perfect gift— something that reminds you of them, references an inside joke or that you know is on their list.

If you, like so many others, find yourself stuck ruminating on the ideal gift for someone, feeling generally unprepared to start wrapping presents, let alone buying them, we’re here to help you out. Whether you’re looking for a little something to bring with you to a holiday party or a small stocking stuffer, read on to discover our recommendations for gifts from some of our favorite Boulder stores, guaranteed to put a smile on your recipient’s face.

Gifts for Kids

The holiday season is often more special for children than anyone else. We could chalk up some of that to the excitement and secrecy surrounding Santa Claus, or the time spent off of school with family. But, let’s be honest, a pretty big reason so many kids get excited for the holidays is because of the presents.

Maybe this year you’re buying something for your own child, or perhaps for a niece or nephew. Whoever the youngster is in your life, you have the opportunity to give them one of the best gifts in the pile with the items below, whether it’s a toy or adorable pajamas.

Home Goods

Every home could use a little more love when it comes to decor and accessories. Even if the person you’re gifting to believes that some home good items verge on the edge of clutter, there are a wide range of aesthetically pleasing options that also serve a useful function—like colorful wine glasses or a sleek kitchen knife. If your gift’s receiver is looking to brighten up a space, wrap up one of these home goods for them this holiday season.

Presents for Hosts

This time of year is ripe for holiday parties, be it a large gathering with the entire extended family, complete with a Christmas turkey and an array of side dishes, or a small group of friends getting together for drinks. If you’re heading to a shindig and don’t want to arrive empty-handed or bring the typical house-warming bottle of wine—though we have delicious suggestions for that too—we have plenty of options for you that are sure to please the party’s host.

For Her

We all have women in our lives who are deserving of a present. Maybe it’s a mother, wife or daughter, or maybe a best friend who tells you exactly what you need to hear when you need to hear it.

Some people say that women are hard to buy for, but I think that’s just because there are so many possibilities when it comes to giving them gifts. You can purchase beauty products, jewelry, a new staple for her wardrobe or something for the recent hobby she picked up. If the wealth of possibilities is starting to give you decision paralysis, check out some of the presents that we recommend giving to the women in your life.

For Him

For every gift to a woman, there is an equal and opposite gift for a man. Instead of a chic and stylish coat, buy him a classic overshirt. In lieu of gold necklaces, a stainless steel wristwatch. Rather than wrapping up a purse, opt for getting him a dry backpack for hiking trips. Here are a few other ideas from a handful of local stores.

Stocking Stuffers

Finally, the easiest purchase of the year. Perhaps there’s less stress surrounding picking out stocking stuffers because they’re quite literally stuffed inside a stocking instead of delicately covered in wrapping paper. Or maybe it’s because, as a gift giver, you’re likely spending less on stocking stuffers than the presents underneath the tree.

If you want to put less pressure on yourself and save some money, you could exclusively gift stocking stuffers this year. With this list of goodies, you have plenty of options. You could even buy one of each for that special someone in your life.
