Daniel Borrero was the No. 1 ranked tennis player in Colombia at 18 years old. Today, off the court, he serves exclusive and sought-after timepieces through his self-made online dealership, GMT Luxury, based in Arkansas.
Born and raised in Cali, Colombia, Daniel grew up surrounded by precision. At just 10 years old, he was fully committed to tennis. His father, a sports car and watch collector, influenced his passion for personal expression.
“My father always told me, ‘A good impression goes a long way. Dress well, learn to talk less and to listen more.’ I took that seriously as a young adult,” Daniel says. “He has been the person I look up to the most and has guided me to be at the point and place where I am now.”
After graduating from the University of Arkansas in Fort Smith with a degree in international business, Daniel professionally coached tennis at The Country Club of Little Rock. Still, he remained captivated by the world of watches.
He dedicated months, whether it was an early morning before coaching or during a lunch break, studying an online watch trading course, learning the nuances of dealing high-end timepieces in a competitive market.
“I always want to improve,” Daniel says. “I always want to do better.”
In 2023, Daniel bought his first watch and sold it in the same month. GMT Luxury launched soon after and sold 100 watches in its first year, evolving from Daniel’s side-hustle to a full-fledged business.
Today, GMT Luxury has bought and sold more than 650 watches, including world-renowned brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Phillippe and Vacheron Constantin. The company specializes in buying, selling, trading, consigning and sourcing watches ranging from $3,500 to $500,000.
