Going on a Safari

Local Family Creates Vintage Safari Nursery

The goal for this nursery was to infuse the vintage safari theme without making it feel too much like a typical themed kids space. The textural and moody finishes incorporate a sophisticated element yet still have a fun, youthful feel to the space.

The inspiration for this room came from a photo of the homeowner's aunt pictured with an elephant. It gave the kickoff point for the safari theme while still introducing a family element.

A favorite piece of the room is the gunmetal spotlight floor lamp. It provides an amazing sculptural element to the space while integrating another material with the metal.

The space was grounded with tall wainscoting painted in a charcoal gray with textural grasscloth wallpaper above, giving a dramatic base for the finishes to work around. Many tones of wood and natural textures were introduced to give that collected feel that this little man can grow with.
