Green and So Clean is a Twin Cities based cleaning company with a mission: delivering spotless results without compromising health -- or the planet. Specializing in residential and commercial cleaning, Green uses only natural, non-toxic products. Owner Ryan Serafin also focuses on consistency and community, ensuring customer satisfaction.
The story behind Green and So Clean is filled with passion. Before taking over the business in 2019, Serafin had spent years working conventional nine-to-five jobs and dabbling in real estate. But he was drawn to something more meaningful and sustainable. “I’ve always been environmentally conscious,” Serafin explains. “When the opportunity came up to buy the business from a friend who was moving on, it felt like the right fit.”
Though the company had a strong foundation, Serafin faced immediate challenges. “Right after I started, COVID hit. We lost a lot of clients and employees -- most of whom were parents -- had to stay home with their kids,” he says. What could have been a breaking point became an opportunity to reset. Serafin took on the cleanings himself, learning the business from the inside out and restructuring operations to better serve the local area rather than outlying suburbs.
Today, Green and So Clean is a small but mighty team, with seven dedicated cleaners and plans to grow. What hasn’t changed is the company’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices. From reusable mop heads and glass spray bottles to products sourced in bulk directly from sellers, every detail is designed to minimize waste. The team uses high-end, natural brands like Norwex and Doterra -- products so effective and safe, many clients choose to purchase them for personal use.
The company’s ethos is captured in its tagline: For you. For us. For Earth. And while the eco-friendly approach is central, Serafin emphasizes that quality and customer experience are just as important. “A lot of companies are promoting green products now, but we also focus on reusables and sourcing ethically. It’s not just about what we clean with, but how we operate,” he says.
Clients notice the difference. “What I hear over and over is how much people appreciate the consistency,” says Serafin. “They know who’s coming, when they’re coming, and that the job will be done right every time.” That reliability, combined with a highly personalized touch, has resulted in lasting client relationships -- some dating back to the company’s early days.
Green and So Clean offers a comprehensive array of services. Residential cleanings include detailed attention to kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces, and bedrooms, with customizable plans based on individual preferences and budget. Commercial clients -- ranging from salons to small office spaces -- can count on a polished, hygienic environment that leaves a positive impression without exposing employees or customers to harsh chemicals.
The process is simple but thorough: It starts with a complimentary consultation and walk-through, followed by a customized quote. After an initial deep clean, clients can choose a recurring schedule -- weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Feedback is encouraged after every visit to ensure the highest satisfaction.
Serafin is quick to point out that Green and So Clean isn’t a faceless franchise. “You’re not getting random people every week, and you’re not just leaving a check for someone with a trunk full of cleaning supplies,” he says. “We’re insured, professional, and personal. We offer that sweet spot between too big to care and too small to rely on.”
As for what’s next, Serafin plans to continue growing his team and expanding services throughout the Minneapolis area, always with the environment and his clients at heart. “Cleaning doesn’t have to come at the expense of our health or our planet,” he says. “It can be done better -- and we’re proving that every day.”
