Healing Holistically with Alternative Health

When you're sick and tired of being sick and tired

Just a few blocks from downtown Easthampton on Main Street is Alternative Health. An oasis of wellness available for anyone of any age who seeks health-related therapy, a clear path to optimal wellness that is informative and more nurturing than anything you'd find in a traditional medical practice.

John Hoime shared his story of what inspired him to start this business 23 years ago.  "When I was 49 years old, I was told by a doctor that I would not live. Because I had high blood pressure and cholesterol, and I was borderline pre-diabetic, I was very anxious. Unknowingly, I took all the meds doctors told me to because I trusted them. Until that day when this particular doctor told me that."

He went on, "I threw out all my medications. My younger sister referred me to a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Linda Nelson. I met with her, and she looked at me and said, "You have Candida." She told me what I had to do, which I didn't want to hear, and I told her I wouldn't do it. She told me, "Well when you're sick enough, you will. Or you'll die a premature death. Or worse yet, you'll be debilitated, and someone will take care of you.." So I told her, "I'll try it." She said, "You don't try it. You either do it or you don't. If you're not going to do it, don't waste your time, don't waste your money, and don't waste my time." I did exactly what she told me to do. And I haven't taken medicine in 22 years.  So after I got well, I started contacting her and asking her questions, and she offered to work with me and asked if I would be willing to study and change careers so that I could help other people do what she helped me do. And that's how I got started."

Change is hard. John and his staff know this personally because they choose to use the same program as their clients for themselves and their families. This is a place to come to for preventative health therapy because they practice what they preach and understand the struggle of changing from poor habits to establishing new ones. They are a compassionate group of people.

A visit to Alternative Health begins with a consultation where they use the breakthrough ZYTO software program, which reads the bio-communication electrical responses in a client's body. They ask a series of questions to help narrow down the root causes of symptoms someone is experiencing, and the software program gives feedback. Then the practitioner designs a personalized plan for reaching optimal health. "The average length of a program is about 2-3 months," John said. "We also offer monthly virtual classes. I work with everything from basic weight loss to every known autoimmune deficiency known to man to rebuild the immune system." Clients get a lot of encouragement and personal attention from the staff to help keep them on track.

Regarding the affordability of the programs, John said, "Health insurance doesn't take us. It is out of pocket. Insurance companies make their money on sick care, not preventive health wellness." To help people afford the programs, Alternative Health offers personalized payment plans with no interest fees. They rarely advertise because about 95% of the business is through referrals.

What was most impressive was the genuine friendliness of the staff and the knowledge and integrity of how they practice. This business is founded on a passion for helping others build holistic health awareness so everyone can live more joyfully and feel fantastic about it.
