How well will your health insurance work for you in 2021? Here are some questions to consider:

Did your health circumstances change recently? Are you satisfied with what your health insurance costs? Did you miss making changes to your current health plan during your open enrollment period? In all these circumstances, you have options. In the Q&A that follows, Rick Fleming of US Health Advisors offers advice on understanding your health insurance.

Q Did my 2020 health plan fit my needs and my budget?

A If you did not receive a federal subsidy under the Affordable Care Act, the answer may very well be no, it did not meet your budget. At US Health Advisors we consider your budget as well as your health insurance needs.

Q Will my health needs be different in 2021 from what they were in 2020?

A Maybe you changed your lifestyle, lost weight, and no longer need certain medications. Perhaps the opposite happened. Or, there may be a new diagnosis of a condition that requires ongoing monitoring and treatment. Whatever your situation, you need to find the best fit for you and your family, not for the insurance company.

Q What will my premium be if I stay with my current provider?

A Historically, it will be higher than it was last year. The larger question is, how much higher? A trusted health insurance agent can advise you on lower-cost options.

Q What will my deductible and out-of-pocket maximum be?

A ACA plans seem to change every year regarding deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums, so again it’s a good idea to talk with a trusted health insurance agent and do a comparison against other plans.

Q Is the hospital nearest to me and my primary care physician in my current network?

A Although the ACA seems to be getting better with this, it still makes sense to ensure your coverage is in the network that includes your doctor and your local hospital. Another consideration: Is your current plan one that will cover you as you travel across state lines?

Q Do I have options outside of the Affordable Care Act?

A Yes! ACA plans are not the only health plans available to you. US Health Advisors offers many comprehensive, competitive plans. Just as you would seek multiple estimates for a  home repair or to restore your vehicle after an accident, you can investigate alternate health plans, compare coverage and prices, and choose the plan that best fits your needs.

Here’s the bottom line: When you shop for health care, you need to look for affordability and flexibility. You need a plan that covers illnesses, accidents, overall wellness, critical illness, and catastrophic events.

At US Health Advisors, we have the trusted agents you’re looking for. Our agents are true professionals when it comes to navigating the complex landscape of health insurance. We offer plans with minimum or even zero deductibles. We can identify plans with no co-payments. We have access to dental, vision, life and short-term disability plans. In short, we can find comprehensive and affordable plans to cover all your health and life insurance needs.

Start by talking to a trusted health insurance agent. A brief conversation may be all you need to make sure you and your family are protected, and to put money back in your pocket!

Q What is US Health Advisors?

A US Health Advisors is part of USHEALTH Group, Inc. USHEALTH Group is a fully integrated insurance holding company based in Fort Worth, Texas, and a UnitedHealthcare company. Its licensed insurance company subsidiaries Freedom Life Insurance Company of America, National Foundation Life Insurance Company, and Enterprise Life Insurance Company are dedicated to providing innovative Life, Specified Disease/Sickness, Accident and Disability Insurance solutions for self-employed individuals, families, small business owners and their employees. Through its insurance companies, USHEALTH Group has served more than 15 million customers with individually tailored plans for more than 50 collective years.

Q How is US Health Advisors and its health insurance plans different from plans offered under the ACA?

A We can build health plans based on our clients’ budgets and needs. I like to say that we protect your health and your wealth. We have a 12-month open enrollment period, so you don’t have to wait for one particular time of year to get new insurance. One of our plans allows you to buy more insurance whenever you need it – you can be in an ambulance on your way to the hospital and you can call for more insurance coverage right then. We have a guaranteed-issue plan. We also work individually with clients with pre-existing conditions to find them the best coverage possible – with one of our plans, or with someone else’s.

Q What should I look for in choosing a health insurance agent?

A It’s very simple – you want an agent who looks out for your best benefit, not theirs. I’m a teacher, so I try to teach my clients about insurance and what they need. A good agent will review your current plan, explain your benefits, and let you know if your coverage can be improved. It’s all about education.
