The new year is here, and for many, that means focusing on getting healthy-not only through fitness but also nutrition. It's a great time to support local businesses like Kaleidoscope Juice. Owned and operated by Brooke McGregor, a Valley resident, Kaleidoscope Juice is a health-focused juice and smoothie bar offering nutrient-dense, organic food and beverages.
For McGregor, it's a true labor of love. "From the beginning, I've been inspired by Kaleidoscope's mission to provide high-quality ingredients with little barrier to access. Initially, it was about offering a trustworthy, quick, and nutritious meal option. Over time, it has evolved into a space of true healing and wellness, where every product is thoughtfully crafted to support specific health needs."
McGregor has always been passionate about health, holding an undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Nutrition Dietetics. After graduation, she began studying naturopathic medicine while working at Kaleidoscope. "I started as a smoothie barista girl, but the creativity and commitment to healing deeply inspired me to leave my medical school program and dive further into food science." Her passion for health, coupled with her personal journey, led her to pursue a Master's in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine, followed by a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition.
As a wife and mother, McGregor has always placed a strong emphasis on healthy nutrition and public education. "After joining Kaleidoscope, I began helping to develop the menu, refining ingredient lists, and guiding the brand's evolution." In 2018, McGregor became a partner and COO. By 2020, she was promoted to CEO and navigated the business through the pandemic. In 2021, she purchased the company from its original founder, Alexandra Hollenbeck.
Kaleidoscope Juice began with a single 500-square-foot location in Old Town Scottsdale, now serving as a commissary for cold-pressed juices and gluten-free baked goods. "What began as one small shop has grown into an eight-location concept across the valley," says McGregor. Their most recent location will open in Phoenix's Arcadia Improvement Club in Summer 2024. "Our journey is a testament to the power of passion, hard work, and a commitment to wellness."
McGregor has always believed in providing high-quality ingredients with easy access to the public. "What started as a quick, nutritious meal option has evolved into a space of healing and wellness, where every product is carefully crafted to support specific health needs." What sets Kaleidoscope Juice apart from the many juice spots around the valley? McGregor points to their dedication to organic, customizable blends tailored to health needs. "We're the only organic juice, smoothie, and café concept in the valley that offers customizable blends, from low-FODMAP options to those supporting female reproductive health."
Many menu items reflect McGregor's background. For instance, the "Ann" juice was developed during her coursework in oncology nutrition and supports chemotherapy and radiation patients. "It features ingredients that enhance treatment efficacy and mitigate side effects." Another example is "The Pill," which combines organic dill, cucumber, and ginseng to aid digestion, ease bloating, and alleviate menstrual pain.
Kaleidoscope Juice also shows a strong commitment to the community, hosting Women's Wellness Summits to empower women in the valley through nutrition, science, and business. "My vision is to expand Kaleidoscope Juice as an educational resource, helping customers become their own health advocates," McGregor says. "We aim to guide individuals on their wellness journeys, both through our products and the knowledge we share."
