When the excesses of a month and a half of holiday celebrations settle around the waistline, it’s only natural to consider some healthier dining choices. Fortunately, one of our favorite local restaurants has our back as well as our expanding backside. The Forge 1912 not only offers world class steaks and burgers, but top-notch healthy options without requiring you to sacrifice quality or flavor.

The recipe to successfully deliver on the promise of healthy alternatives that don’t feel like a punishment is fresh ingredients. The owners and staff at The Forge are committed to sourcing produce and protein that are second to none in freshness. This means working with local suppliers to ensure the least amount of time from harvest to table so they avoid the need for harmful preservatives or processes that leach out the nutrients and flavor.

Combined with thoughtful recipes that take advantage of naturally occurring flavors and contrasts, creative takes on traditional dishes, and the quality and care in preparation you’d receive from your grandmother’s kitchen, the team at The Forge have some dishes that are sure to get you back on track with your goals for 2025. And if you are also embracing “Dry January” or, like some of us, “Damp January,” the bar staff has you covered with creative mocktails to accompany your delicious entrees.

Spinach Salad

If a variation on traditional themes is in order, try some vibrant spinach with farm fresh blueberries, blue cheese, candied pecans, croutons and house vinaigrette. Don’t forget the bacon bits! We’d highly recommend adding some steak or salmon to this delicious salad choice for an outstanding entree option.

Crab Cake

If you are like us, we are always dreaming of the beach during the winter months. What better than a cooked crab cake with a beurre blanc sauce, chives and a refreshing lemon slice to conjure thoughts of spring and the shore… and to help us start our journey to beach bods!

Caesar Salad

Following the motto of “less is more,” try on simplicity at its finest with crisp romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, fresh croutons and homemade caesar dressing for a timeless treat as classic as Rome itself. Adding grilled chicken to this salad transforms it into a gem you’ll keep on your rotation year round.

Sweet Potato and 8oz Filet

What more can you say about meat and potatoes than “yes, please!” While the filet is considered a decadent cut of meat, it’s relatively low in fat compared to other cuts. Coupled with sweet potato, considered by experts to be a superfood due to its nutritional value, you can eat healthy without sacrificing your cravings.
