More than 23,000 students drop out every school year in Nevada. Students who drop out are more likely to experience emotional trauma, homelessness, hunger, and poor health. Luckily, this summer, we can do our part to help the at-risk students in our community by getting involved with Communities In Schools (CIS) of Nevada. CIS is a trusted organization dedicated to increasing graduation rates and improving lives. Its mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

Teachers and administrators can’t do it alone; it takes a community to help support students. CIS of Nevada brings together all sectors of the community, from businesses to other nonprofits to government agencies to faith-based organizations.

Communities In Schools places full-time site coordinators within the school campuses of over 80 high-needs schools in Nevada. The organization’s site coordinators meet with over 75,000 students to ensure their academic success by working directly with each school’s administration to provide the resources to help students graduate on time and prepare for college, career, and life beyond academia.

“Last academic year, we celebrated a 92 percent graduation rate for our students,” said Diane Presser, Marketing Manager of Communities In Schools of Nevada. “It's because of caring members of our community that we can achieve these results and raise resources for our kids!”
