Denison’s Rise Aviation recently hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at North Texas Regional Airport, bringing together local, regional, and state stakeholders, community leaders, elected officials, and other dignitaries. According to a press release, the event marks the start of construction on a new 63,100-square-foot hangar complex, further expanding aviation infrastructure and supporting continued economic growth in Grayson County and the North Texas region. This development represents a significant investment in the airport’s capabilities, strengthening its role as a strategic gateway for business aviation and regional connectivity.
Mike Livezey, vice president and general manager of Rise Aviation, attended the ceremony and shared remarks on the milestone. “This is a great day. It has taken almost three years to get here. Once this one is built, we will begin construction on another hangar. We don’t want to build just one and be done.” Livezey, who has been with Rise Aviation for eight and a half years, has deep ties to the Texoma area. “Fifty-three years ago, I attended Grayson College. Now, all these years later, I have come back. I plan to retire here. When this project is finished, I will step back.” He expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments, adding, “We have done something that will benefit the entire community, now and in the future.”
Rise Aviation’s mission is to provide customers with exceptional service, dependable quality products, a clean and professional facility, and a warm, friendly experience at a fair and competitive price.
North Texas Regional Airport sits on the former site of Perrin Air Force Base. Established in 1941 as a training site for World War II pilots, the facility played an important role in preparing military aviators until its closure in 1971.
Since 2007, Rise Aviation has served North Texas Regional Airport, helping elevate its reputation as a premier destination for general aviation. The company operates a full-service fixed base operation offering fueling, storage, concierge services, and flight instruction. Amenities include a pilot’s lounge, on-site aircraft maintenance, secure hangars, Avfuel Jet A and 100LL aviation fuel, rental and crew cars, complimentary ice, coffee, and cookies, a conference room, and full aircraft fueling capabilities. Catering, hotel reservations, and limousine or town car services are also available. Rise Aviation also offers both transient hangar storage and long-term lease options.
Located in Denison, Texas, North Texas Regional Airport features a 9,000-by-150-foot runway capable of accommodating nearly any size aircraft. An additional 4,000-by-75-foot runway is also on-site, along with a staffed control tower, four instrument approaches including ILS, and an automated weather observation system. According to Livezey, only two airports in Texas have longer runways, and the airport has the capacity for future expansion thanks to existing infrastructure.
