The health benefits of water cannot be overstated. Everyone knows that for a healthy lifestyle, we should drink more water. Infusing water with different combinations of fruits, vegetables and herbs can jazz up water, give variety and add nutritional benefits.
It's not rocket science, and there is no real “recipe” for infused water. Trial and error will lead you to your favorite combinations and methods. If you are new to infusing, Katie Wells from WellnessMama.com has a few tips and flavor combinations to recommend.
1. Use a glass pitcher with a lid. A high-quality glass pitcher will improve the flavor, and a nice, tight-fitting lid will keep the fruit in place and make it convenient to pour.
2. High-quality produce, fresh and organic, is best. Wash well and remove peels if you are worried about pesticides. Thinly slice cucumbers and citrus fruits and finely chop other fruits. Slightly muddle berries and herbs.
3. Give it time. It takes at least four hours or overnight in the refrigerator to let the flavors infuse well.
