Dovetail is a casual neighborhood Italian restaurant in Bouldin Creek serving up delicious share-size salads, pizzas and pastas. They have traditional fare, but also selections for those with more adventurous palettes. For pizza, the White Pie with ricotta cream, snap peas, corn and arugula is worth a try and for pasta, we loved the gnocchi with sweet potato queso and brussel sprouts!
The concept comes from Austin hospitality industry friends Ben Runkle, Joe Ritchie, and Natalie Davis of Present Tense Hospitality together with Todd Duplechan (Lenoir, Vixen’s Wedding), Sidney Roberts (G’Raj Mahal), and Alex Manley (Swedish Hill), who each have a personal tie to the South Austin neighborhood. Consequently, the name Dovetail - a woodworking term meaning ‘to fit skillfully to form a whole.’
“The idea for Dovetail Pizza stemmed from a desire to create a place that we would all personally enjoy and could easily go to for a weekly dinner, hang with some friends on the weekend, or just grab a drink after work,” said Runkle.
