Holiday Food Hacks

Make Holiday Entertaining Easy with Impressive but Simple Food Styling Tricks

As the holiday party season ramps up, it can be hard to find time to make a dish from scratch. If you run out of time to cook but don’t want to bring something that looks like it was picked up on the way to the party, we have the solution. These food styling hacks look impressive but are simple to create.

Chocolate Cake

To make a store-bought cake look special, add berries and a holiday topper to give it some flair. Fresh raspberries cascade down the side, held in place with toothpicks. Add sugar-dusted cranberries around the bottom to complete this elegant look.

Double Creme Brie Board

A double creme brie can be found at most grocery stores. Bake the brie according to the package’s instructions. Add blueberries (dried or fresh) and candied pecans, then drizzle with local honey and serve with crackers or bread.

Holiday Charcuterie Board

Create a unique holiday charcuterie board in the shape of a Christmas tree. A few trimmed evergreen clippings from the backyard serve as a great edging for the board. With a variety of cheeses, berries, nuts and olives, this tasty display makes the perfect statement board. For an added touch, use a cookie cutter to add a cheese star to the top.

New York Cheesecake

This inexpensive cheesecake was purchased at Trader Joe’s but needed a little something to make it look festive. Add candied pecans, purchased or made from scratch, then top with fresh berries and mint sprigs for added color.

Apple Tart

Adding a few toppers to a store-bought apple tart makes it look made from scratch. Sliced pears, fresh herbs, berries and drizzled caramel add color and a homemade touch to this delicious treat.
