Allyson Martin, manager/stylist, Bella Gente Salon + Clothing Boutique says two coloring aspects are very popular. "Many clients with blonde hair are converting to more caramel shades. And the second trend is deepening the hair and roots, as in moving from blonde to chocolate brown," she adds.
Curtain bangs are huge right now, Allyson shares. "More women are leaving their hair length longer, and instead are adding layers," she says.
Made famous during the 1960s to 1970s by actresses, such as Brigette Bardot, Goldie Hawn and Farrah Fawcett, curtain bangs are parted down the middle, or sometimes slightly to the left or right, and swept to each side, so they perfectly frame the face and eyes, much like a curtain does with a window.
A big request from young clients, says Allyson, is incorporating vibrant or rainbow colors into natural hair colors -- likely being made popular by 18-year-old entertainer JoJo Siwa. JoJo tours to provide perfomances in various cities, and has 12.3 million subscribers on YouTube. Among her branded apparel product line, more than 80 million hair bows have sold. She says she's worn a rainbow on the top of her head almost every day of her life.

Men's holiday hairstyles are including more lightening highlights, says Joe Bryan, owner of 18|8 Fine Men’s Salons in Chesterfield and Creve Coeur.
Men seem to be embracing the use of color and highlights to give their style a unique signature. Highlights can be very subtle or bolder. Highlights can give a haircut texture, and can help brighten a face and bring out one's eyes.
Joe says his salon team has been noticing the end of the "COVID-related growing long hair" trend. "Men are trading their man buns or shoulder-length ponytails for going back to fade cuts of some sort," he adds.
The so-called 'soccer cut' is popular, in which men have some length and a long top, but hair doesn't touch shirt collars. Joe says high taper fade cuts are desirable because the hair is shorter or shaved above the midpoint between the top of the ear and the round of the head, and fades evenly into the length on top. He says some men are getting low fades in which the hair is shaved below the midpoint between the top of the ear and the round of the head and still fades evenly into the length on top.
"We aren't seeing many changes in product needs -- still very little shine desired, but some firm molding clay or messy hair textured paste helps complete these styles," says Joes.
