A neighborhood classic born in northern Glendale’s Arrowhead Ranch, Signatures has been a beloved part of the community for nearly three decades. What began as a dream for Arizona native Wendy Schuff Byrne has become an award-winning boutique that continues to capture hearts and support.
"I opened Signatures in 1997, and we just celebrated our 28th year at the same location," says Wendy, who runs the store at 20211 N. 67th Avenue, Glendale. "It's been such a blessing to be able to serve this community all these years.”
That family atmosphere is long-standing for Wendy. She is a proud wife of Barry Byrne, mom of five and grandma of 11, and her twelfth grandbaby is on the way, due in January. "If it weren't for our wonderful customers, we wouldn't be here today," she shares. "They're the ones who've allowed us to grow and expand."
When Wendy first opened Signatures, the boutique specialized in stationery, invitations, and cards. Over the years, it has evolved into much more. Now, it’s specialty gift store offering jewelry, candles, bath products, home décor, baby items, and other treasures.
Signatures carries top jewelry lines such as Brighton, Kendra Scott, Enewton, Waxing Poetic, and its newest addition, Julie Vos. For shoppers looking for all sorts of gifts, they will also find popular plush animals by Jellycat, stylish baby clothing, and a good selection of wedding, bridal shower, and inspirational gifts. "We're proud to have something for everyone, from crosses and angels to stylish gifts that celebrate where we live," she says.
It's no surprise Signatures has been Phoenix Magazine's "Best Place to Buy Gifts in the Valley" six years in a row. She attributes much of that success to the people who are helping to make the store what it is. "Signatures isn't all about me, it's about these incredible people who work here," she says. “We’re a close team, and everyone plays a part in making Signatures the warm, welcoming place we are known for.”
Among that dedicated team is Bibian Nau, who has been with Wendy for more than 25 years. “Bibian has been with me nearly since the beginning,” Byrne shares. “She’s family and a true example of what makes our team so special. We’ve been blessed with the most talented, caring group of women who pour their hearts into this store every day.” It isn’t just Bibian who helps to make the store what it is, Wendy shares that all the success and wins go to her other staff as well including Kim, Elizabeth, Chris, Kristen, Karen, and Avery.
At holiday time, the staff's attention to detail is one of the best showcases of our love and experience. "We close down for a week every year to set up our Christmas Extravaganza," describes Wendy. "It's our favorite part of the year when the store is transformed into a winter wonderland!”
The hottest trend of the season this year? Bows, lots and lots of bows. "Bows are everywhere and on everything this holiday," Wendy explains. "We even have a velvet Christmas tree that's entirely comprised of plush bows."
Of course, traditional red and green ornaments are timeless, but Wendy also loves to mix in a little fun. “We’ve added plenty of pink and sparkle this year. We have spa themes, handbags, even a pink G-Wagon for the girl who has everything,” she shares.
When decorating, Wendy encourages shoppers to get creative. "Don't be afraid to mix textures and colors," she says. "Velvet bows, metallic ribbons, and layered ornaments can be just what you need to add depth and warmth to your tree. And we always recommend you add something personal, such as a keepsake ornament as a special reminder of this holiday season."
Guests can also anticipate some seasonally new features at Signatures this year. "We designed new gift bags," Wendy continues. "Every gift that leaves our store is wrapped in a Signature gift bag with tissue, ready to be presented to someone special." In store, guests will find a giant version of a new green-and-white striped Christmas gift bag, complete with a red bow, perfect for holiday photos.
For many, visiting Signatures has become a cherished tradition. “Some of our customers have been shopping with us for decades,” Wendy says. “We’ve printed their baby announcements and their wedding invitations. Now, as Signatures celebrates 28 years, Wendy is more passionate than ever. "We've always aimed to show the best of the best with beautiful gifts, personal service, and genuine caring," she says. "It's not just shopping; it's relationships and connecting with people. When you walk into our store, you're family."
