Holiday Splendor and Fun at Kings Island WinterFest

Many locals remember the wonder and joy of WinterFest at Kings Island when growing up in past decades. Last year, after over a decade without it, WinterFest returned to the park bigger and better than ever. The reception was beyond everyone’s expectations, and WinterFest continues this year with even more additions and excitement.

Opening right after Thanksgiving and concluding with a newly added New Year’s Eve celebration, WinterFest provides families the opportunity to see the park, ride the rides and taste the treats, all under a sparkling blanket of lights.

“So many of the guests who visited Kings Island’s WinterFest in 2017 told us it was their new family tradition that has something for everyone in their family,” says Chad Showalter, director of communications at Kings Island.

A visit to WinterFest creates a feast for the senses:

Live Entertainment: The traveling Holly Jolly Trolley of singers offers visitors of all ages the chance to listen and get into the holiday spirit.

Wintry Food Favorites: Kings Island’s signature blue ice cream forms the basis for one of the many wintry tasty treats: premium Blue Hot Chocolate!

Show-Stopping Light Displays: Guests can stroll through the 10 Winter Wonderlands, each one a separate themed lights display with activities, shopping and rides throughout. All told, 5 million lights will glitter around the park.

Character Appearances: Characters like Candy Cane and Jack Frost will be strolling the park, greeting and entertaining guests.

International Street on Ice: The centerpiece of WinterFest is the large ice rink that replaces the pond by the tower, allowing families, couples and friends to enjoy an evening of ice skating in the park.

This year, there will be even more WinterFest fun.

“In 2018, Kings Island will have more of the park open for WinterFest including newly themed areas in Rivertown and Coney Mall. More rides will be open, and there will even be carriage rides along Coney Mall,” Chad says.
