And after 18 months of dressing down and working from home, Elizabeth Amireh of Vita Boutique says her customers are ready to get dressed up and head back out on the town. When they shop at Vita, they’ll find one-of-a-kind pieces that make them feel special.
“This year I expect embellishments like rhinestones and sequins, plus gold and silver metallic materials to be a big hit,” says Elizabeth. “Another big trend we’ve seen is wraps and capes with faux fur because you can throw them over an outfit to make it really dressy.”
These wraps and capes are good pieces to have in your wardrobe because we don’t always need a big bulky coat that won’t compliment a dressy outfit. Because most are one size fits all, they make great gifts, too.
For those party-goers who want to feel festive without being too fancy, Vita carries tunics and jeans with plenty of these kinds of embellishments. Some jeans come with pearl and bow details that will feel dressy with a fun sweater. Look to materials like velvet, faux leather, mixed textures and even animal prints to be big hits during the holidays, too. Still, our fashion expert insists you can’t go wrong with a sharp black outfit – especially with a pop of red to make it look more “holiday.”
Anne-Marie’s owner Anne-Marie Beris adds that diamonds are the best way to compliment any outfit, especially if you are going for a more elegant look. Try diamond earring cuffs or ear climbers, or a diamond necklace, fashion ring or tennis bracelet to elevate your ensemble.
While diamonds will always be popular, Anne-Marie says her team has seen a lot of traditional styles come back this year, including yellow gold jewelry and chains – Cuban link, paperclip, rope chains, herringbone – as well as stacking jewelry and solitaire engagement rings.
Speaking of making a comeback, Anne-Marie’s is a full-service jewelry store that also focuses on custom design, re-purposing of jewelry and repairs. The shop recently won Canton Repository’s 2021 Best of the Best in Jewelry Store and Jewelry Service & Repair categories.
“COVID has allowed many people to go through their belongings and we’ve been repurposing and designing a lot of meaningful pieces for our customers,” says Anne-Marie. “You’ll create great conversation at holiday gatherings when you show how you’ve resized Grandma’s ring or reset your aunt’s diamonds into earrings for your loved ones.”

“Local businesses are more unique and specialized,” says Elizabeth. "You’ll get better service and make connections with business owners and employees, too. My customers are like my friends.”
