For Brooke and Andrew Winfrey, owners of Redeemed In-Home Care, the story of how they founded their business is a tapestry woven by a God who has blessed their family so they, in turn, can minister to others.
In 2013, Brooke’s grandfather, Errol Durbin, got the flu and began a downward spiral in his health. After multiple stints in rehabilitation facilities, he was unable to care for himself. Durbin ended up in a nursing facility, until his family discovered that his long-term care insurance provided for in-home care.
Initially, in-home care seemed ideal for Durbin and his wife, until the family began to question the quality of care their family members were receiving. Most caretakers had no medical background, and the Durbins were missing medications to the detriment of their health.
At this point, Brooke, whose professional background was in staffing and recruiting, realized that she was uniquely positioned to see both the needs of those hiring home health care providers and the families who needed care for their loved ones.
“I set out on a mission to find quality individuals to provide care who would provide my loved ones, and yours, with safety and comfort in their own home,” she says.
The Winfreys founded Redeemed In-Home Care in July 2017. Today, the business has grown steadily via word-of-mouth referrals and employs nearly 20 professional health aides who provide the kind of care that Brooke expects for her own grandparents, who are still living in their own home.
“They love every single one of their caregivers,” she says. “They’re treated like one of the family. And from a granddaughter’s perspective, having my grandparents able to come over on a holiday just to visit with them, and not be their caretaker, is a blessing.”
