Home is Where the Heart Is: Get to Know Wendy Allen

The Allens are an Atlanta family that is passing the torch of real estate leadership in South Fulton. Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties recently opened a gateway office in the heart of Historic College Park. BHHS GA Managing Broker Wendy Allen and her team of 27 (and growing) agents serve people looking to buy or sell in the area.

As Senior V.P. and Managing Broker, Allen and her brother, Robert, a longtime friend of the magazine, are second-generation realtors. Forty years ago, their mother and late father were two of the most successful real estate agents in Atlanta.

“Before my dad started his company, he started a daycare called Wendy's Daycare,” said Wendy. “His entrepreneurial spirit came before the real estate business. Dad opened a local brokerage firm in 1978 where he eventually had 40 agents. He ran this business successfully for over 30 years.”

“I basically grew up in real estate. After school and in the summer, I served as my dad’s secretary. I even wrote out his handwritten letters. I learned so many things from him.”

When it was time for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices to expand, the first thing Wendy thought about was, “Where are opportunities to grow home ownership?” The South Fulton area immediately came to mind. “College Park has such a warm feel. There is so much potential for growth.”

There is booming growth in the South Fulton area and it’s here in our beloved #SoFu that they intentionally chose to open their business.

“We are partnering with Prosperity Home Mortgage and they specifically wanted to focus on the South Fulton crescent,” said Wendy, who celebrated the opening of the Gateway Historic College Park Office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included top BHHS GA executives, media, realtors, and local politicians.

A big part of the company is focused on giving back to the community it serves.

“We use our resources to promote home ownership with quarterly workshops. This community is so welcoming. Our doors are always open and people literally stop by,” said Wendy. “We are so honored to fit into this community.”

"I am thrilled to celebrate the expansion of our footprint into Historic College Park," said Dan Forsman, president and CEO Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties. "Under Wendy's leadership, this office is sure to flourish and serve as a tremendous asset to the surrounding community."

Located at 1876 Princeton Ave., in the heart of College Park's Historic District, the 1.5-story, 6,176-square-foot office offers a welcoming environment and industry-leading technology for agents, clients, and community members to connect.

"With its central location, many attractions, and diverse and welcoming community, College Park boasts small-town charm and comfort with the convenience of metropolitan living," said Allen. "We're excited to provide home buyers and sellers in this rapidly growing community with the expertise, service, and global marketing power that only HomeServices can offer."

“And this is just the beginning. There is more to come and we will be doing even more in South Fulton in the near future,” Wendy said about their commitment to the area. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue to collaborate.”
