In the premiere of What Makes This Design Great?, designer Sherry Millien of Terravista Interior Design Group teams up with host Nadine Gol of NGPlatinum Homes to reveal the transformation of a cluttered, uninspiring home office into a beautifully functional workspace.
The client — a busy professional — needed a calm, organized environment that could support both focus and creativity. Sherry's design centered on a warm, inviting color palette featuring Sherwin Williams’ Mindful Gray cabinetry, accented with blush tones for a soft, feminine touch.
Lighting played a major role in the makeover. A combination of recessed lights, a statement chandelier, and elegant sconces created a bright, balanced atmosphere. A timeless desk and an eye-catching animal print rug added character without sacrificing function.
Storage was key. Customized cabinetry with adjustable shelves brought order to chaos, while classic Shaker-style doors ensured the space stayed stylish. Carefully chosen lamps and thoughtful details completed the look, blending form with function.
This transformation is a perfect example of how strategic design choices can enhance both beauty and practicality in everyday spaces.
