After starting 2020 with on personal resolutions, now it's time to focus on some home decor updates. Not sure where to begin? Think about trends that are both fresh and will stand the test of time.
And just like New Year's resolutions, you don't have to change everything all at once to make an impact. When it comes to updating your interiors, there are certain features that are easy and inexpensive to change, such as paint color, floor stains, hardware for cabinets, light fixtures, area rugs, and pillows among other design accents. Here are the trends of 2020 that I believe will stand the test of time.

Paint color—cool color tones are preferred. Cool tones include grays, greiges, blues, and whites.

For flooring, think dark brown floors (espresso, ebony), grays, white and natural washes. Pictured is natural wash flooring.

For cabinet hardware and appliances, brushed nickel, gold, and matte black are preferred today.

Trends in light fixtures are geometric shapes, woven and natural elements, and black finishes.

Area rugs are either neutral or have a punch of color for your space.

Pillows with geometric shapes, color, texture, and neutral color are all the rage.
