A Heart-to-Heart Conversation With a Local Country Musician Helping Families Find Their Happy Place

On any given Thursday at Smitty’s honky tonk in Aledo, you’ll find Kristin Carroll perched upon the stage bathed in the glow of neon lights. With a classic six-string guitar in tow, her sound is unmistakably country.

Legendary songwriter Harlan Howard once aptly described this genre as “three chords and the truth”.

"For me, it's got to sound like true country music," she explains. “I love those simple three-chord melodies.”

These cadences are etched into the rhythms of her soul. Kristin’s mother performed on Canadian television and radio. Her father once won an Everly Brothers’ competition as a teenager. The pair played across Canada and had their own band. Growing up watching their artistry awakened her love for music.

"I was born into this world. In a way, music was my birthright,” remarks Kristin with a smile.

Kristin, who has the approachable air of our Canadian neighbors, adopted Texas as her home state when her parents moved to the Bedford area, where she graduated from high school. Kristin later married and moved back to Canada for 18 years to raise two young children.

In the late 1990s, Kristin purchased her first home as a fledgling 22-year-old. It was her first exposure to real estate.

“I was so young when I became a homeowner,” she remembers. “We learned how to do everything from electrical to plumbing and drywall. Anything I had a vision to accomplish, it had to be done with our own two hands.”

The renovation of her first house spurred on a lifelong curiosity and opened the door to a career that has since spanned the real estate industry. Over the years, Kristin has worked as a loan officer and as a licensed real estate agent, giving her a rare understanding of the purchasing process.

Now on her second stint in North Texas, this time as a mortgage loan officer, Kristin is ignited by that same joy that once inspired her as a novice homebuyer.

“There's nothing more exciting than buying your first home,” she says. “I want to see people do what I was able to accomplish.”

Whether Kristin is helping a family finance their dream home through Supreme Lending or filling a dance floor with the twang of country music, she has made a career of bringing people joy.

"I don't sing because I like to hear myself," she explains. "I sing because I know how music made me feel growing up, and to be able to pay that forward to other people is my heart. This same feeling follows me right into the mortgage business."

If you're ready to begin your homeownership journey or explore your mortgage options, contact Kristin Carroll to discuss your goals and take the next step toward finding your happy place.
