There are many things that make our community so great and one of those things is the people who live here. So many people have helped, given, and supported those who needed it. We talked with four amazing people who make our town home.
Valerie Smith
Registered Nurse at Doctors Hospital of Augusta
Valerie Smith is a Registered Nurse in the ICU Unit at Doctors Hospital of Augusta and lives in Evans with her family. She goes above and beyond to provide her patients with excellent care and shows kindness to everyone she meets. “I do get attached to my patients, some are there for a while,” says Valerie. She made the decision to become a nurse because she wanted a career that is fulfilling and has a positive impact on others. “I wanted to care for people who couldn’t provide for themselves,” she shares.
Matt Lever
Prodigal Ministries
Wanting to create a safe place and provide help for men with addictions, Matt Lever started Prodigal Ministries, a faith-based non-profit recovery home. At Prodigal Ministries, men are given daily support and reminded about God’s love for them. “A lot of people don’t have a support group and they go back to the house where people get high every night. We teach them how to create a life they don’t want to escape from,” says Matt.
