Lewisville Public Library's Kelly Brouillard Suggests Some Thrilling Books for Fall and Extends an Invitation to the Booked for Murder Club

As the weather turns cooler, nothing is more comforting than curling up with a suspenseful mystery novel. Kelly Brouillard, Adult Services Supervisor at Lewisville Public Library, shares some thrilling whodunnits. If you’re looking for someone to sleuth with, check out Booked for Murder, Lewisville Public Library’s longest-running book club for lovers of mysteries, thrillers and suspense novels, which meets from 2–3 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month.

“We try to read a variety of mysteries and thrillers from detective mysteries to edge-of-your-seat suspense, classic titles to the new and popular,” Kelly says.

1. Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier 
The second Mrs. Maxim de Winter finds it difficult and frightening to live in the shadow of her predecessor, a situation that is exacerbated by her husband's moodiness and the presence of sinister housekeeper Mrs. Danvers. This classic romantic mystery is a book club favorite. 

2. In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware

3. The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett
A private detective takes on a case that involves him with three eccentric criminals, a gorgeous liar and their quest for a priceless statuette. Classic noir mystery set in 1920s San Francisco.

4. Black-Eyed Susans by Julia Heaberlin
