Yes, I know you want super clean teeth and healthy gums. But, you gotta protect the enamel on your teeth too! My teeth are very sensitive to cold, and part of it is due to brushing my teeth too rough. Another part is grinding my teeth when I am stressed! Do you do those things? Do your teeth hurt if you bite into an ice cream cone or drink water with ice in it? If so, check out some of these options for sensitive teeth!

Electric Toothbrushes

"Because electric toothbrushes are more efficient than manual ones at scrubbing bacteria off your teeth, the right electric toothbrush can be beneficial in minimizing tooth sensitivity from these underlying dental problems. The key is finding one that is gentle. So, when shopping for an electric toothbrush, Dr. Gelfand offers this advice: 'I recommend that people with sensitive teeth buy an electric toothbrush that has the option of adjusting the power levels. Lower power allows the user to brush thoroughly without damaging the enamel of the teeth. Also, the toothbrush should have an option for extra-soft bristle attachment. The extra-soft bristles and lower power option allows the user to do a gentle, but thorough, cleaning,' he says."

Toothpaste

"While it's always important to consult with a dentist if you're having serious pain or oral discomfort, there are a number of steps you can take to manage the problem on your own, including brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush twice a day, remembering to floss, and above all, switching to a better toothpaste. But before you do, you want to make sure you're selecting a new one with care, because they're not all the same."
