1. Measure how much want to take in on your waist. Use a tape measurer for accuracy.
2. Lay your pants out so the back is facing you and the front of the pants are laying down.
3. Take a writing tool (pen, pencil, white crayon) and mark identical diagonal marks on each side of your middle belt loop. This will be your guide. Measurements will vary based on how much you want to take in.
4. Take your needle and thread your thread through. The thicker the thread the better. Make a knot in the end but do not tie a knot to your needle. Allow a tail to hang.
5. Insert your needle at the top of your jeans, starting from the inside of your pants. Make sure you are following the lines you drew earlier. You will do one side at the time.
6. You will now alternate sides, following your line and the center stitch of your pants. To create the seamless dart stitch, you will push your needle from the front to the back and immediately to the front again. Alternate from your drawn line to the center stitch to create horizontal lines down to your diagonal point.
7. Once at the point, gently pull your thread until you can no longer see it and your line is now directly next to your center stitch. Push your needle through to the inside and tie off your thread.
8. Repeat on the other side.
