If you’ve seen a house that appears ordinary in the day but magically wrapped in colorful lights by night, you are not imagining things. That’s the wonder of Trimlight, a permanent outdoor lighting company that is brightening neighborhoods and hearts across Central Arkansas.
“We're a one-time investment for a lifetime of enjoyment,” says Jennifer Rogers, co-owner of Trimlight Central Arkansas, alongside her husband Joe and business partners Sarah and Scott Palmer.
A bright idea
Trimlight was ignited in 2010 after Utah native Ryan Whittaker took down his temporary Christmas lights for the last time in the freezing cold. Determined to find a better way, he developed a low-profile, programmable lighting system, making Trimlight the first company to offer permanent app-controlled holiday lights.
In 2022, the Rogers met the Palmers, who had recently moved from Utah. When Sarah asked around at church for help hanging lights, Jennifer volunteered Joe.
“We went over and she said, ‘Well, I want red, white and green, but next week I might just want warm, white,’” Jennifer recalls.
Joe joked about not coming back, and that’s when Sarah introduced them to the concept of permanent holiday lighting.
More than holiday lights
Soon after, they became just four of 300 authorized Trimlight dealers nationwide. Since then, they’ve helped light up homes and businesses around Central Arkansas, including Leah’s Gymnastics in Benton and Burks Brothers Brewery in Bryant.
“You're not just paying for Christmas lights,” Jennifer says. “You're paying for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, St. Patrick's Day, every holiday, and they're good for security.”
Trimlight uses durable, energy-efficient LED bulbs, and with a patented channel system that blends into the home’s fascia, the lights appear invisible during the day. At night, homeowners can display a mosaic of colors with 16 million to choose from on the Trimlight app.
Jennifer’s own son once lit up the house in blue and white for soccer player Lionel Messi’s birthday. One customer used her lights to reflect her wedding colors in honor of her late husband.
Jennifer says it’s seeing the joy that Trimlight gives the community that makes her work worth every bulb. Every year, they donate a custom light installation to a deserving family. One of their most memorable installs was for a young boy with terminal illness who loves lights.
“Lights make everything better,” Jennifer says. “Trimlight’s slogan is ‘Made for all of life’s moments,' and I love that we get to be a part of our community’s moments in their lives!”
