Recently, Meow Wolf opened its newest permanent exhibition, Radio Tave, in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward. The immersive art experience transforms an ordinary radio station into an otherworldly and, at times, mind-boggling journey that has impressed guests since the doors opened in October. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition during the yearlong construction project. Half of the artists are from Texas, and their combined efforts merge Meow Wolf’s signature storytelling with Houston’s creative spirit.
“We’re beyond excited for everyone to experience Radio Tave,” said Jose Tolosa, CEO of Meow Wolf. “The artistic talent of this city is unparalleled, and we’ve worked hand in hand with Houston’s best to create something that will leave people transformed.”
The installation features some of Houston’s top talent, including Gonzo247 and notable names such as Havel Ruck Projects, Kill Joy, and El Franco Lee II. Inside, visitors will enjoy a wide range of interactive and surreal environments. One of the centerpieces, Obsidiodyssey by Santa Fe artist Janell Langford, explores the emotional journey of the creative process through a complex series of rooms.
Radio Tave is the most sound-driven Meow Wolf project to date. Central to the experience is a mysterious station called ETNL Radio. Local musicians like Fat Tony, who contributed music and appeared in the commercial, collaborated on the project. Texas musicians Pro Ghost and ODAE created tracks that were heard throughout the exhibit. Visitors can also explore a jukebox filled with 30 songs by Houston artists and a front-of-house playlist featuring 50 more.
General Manager Gil Perez describes the experience as an invitation to explore imagination without limits. Timed tickets are now available, giving guests space to fully immerse themselves in this multidimensional world. meowwolf.com
