The Venice Chamber of Commerce’s first annual "Leadership Venice" class includes 26 participants who celebrated their October graduation from the program by announcing the launch of their class project, "Venice Quest." Venice Quest is a series of four different free scavenger hunts that residents and visitors to Venice can participate in through a cell phone application called Scavify. The four scavenger hunts that the Scavify app features are Venice History, Venice Arts and Culture, Walking Downtown and Venice Beach, and Young at Heart.

The Venice Quest project leader—the British Open Pub’s owner Kelly Olliver—says, “This idea started with the thought some people have that there isn’t ever enough to do in our community. We set out to provide activities that anyone can participate in. For people who are just visiting, new to the community, or have lived here their entire lives, these scavenger hunts all provide a fun experience that is full of useful and interesting information for everyone to enjoy.”

To get started with Venice Quest, download the Scavify application to your phone, and register with the application by creating a username and password. After you have registered, search for "Venice" to find the multiple scavenger hunts that are a part of Venice Quest. The different scavenger hunts can be completed in any order, at any pace, and they can be paused and started again at any time.

“This class project would not be possible without the financial support of the various community organizations and business partnerships that were fostered throughout the development and creation of these quests,” says Bob Hite, community and government outreach director for Venice Regional Bayfront Health. “The entire Leadership Venice inaugural class is very grateful for their support of our project, and I am personally thankful for the outpouring of support we have received from our community and business partners.”

The class project has support from organizations such as the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, Venice Regional Bayfront Health and the YMCA, plus from businesses such as Brew Burgers, Café Venice, British Open Pub, Compass Property Management, Venice Print Center, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Robinson, Gruters and Roberts CPA.

Leadership Venice was created by the Chamber's Barbara Hines and is designed to expose current and future leaders to problems and opportunities that face the Venice community. The class spends one day each month expanding their knowledge in various segments of Venice including Venice history, economic development, government, health and human services, community awareness and arts and culture.

Applications are available on the Chamber’s website for the Leadership Venice Class of 2020. The deadline to apply is Dec. 2. Contact Barbara Hines BHines@VeniceChamber.com for further information.
