For as long as residents can remember, Flower Mound has been celebrating the Fourth of July. What began as a small community celebration has evolved into the incomparable Independence Fest, where thousands of residents gather for a day filled with family fun. This year, the ever-growing festival will feature legendary rocker Bret Michaels.

“We’re thrilled to have the legendary Bret Michaels with us, as part of his Unbroken World Tour, as our headliner. We’ll also have Le Freak, known as ‘The Greatest Disco Band in the World,’ back by popular demand and will perform for the fourth consecutive year. In addition, we’ll welcome back crowd favorite, award-winning country band Breaking Southwest,” says Molly Fox, director of communications for the Town of Flower Mound.

Music is just one aspect of the fun, day-long event.

“As always, there will be a vintage car show; a showcase of our local businesses, food and drinks for the whole family; and a completely free Kid's Zone presented by CoServ, complete with bounce houses, rock climbing and more,” she says.

“Of course, we kick off the day with our annual Children’s Parade, which starts in the morning at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Road. It is always great to see all the families in the parade with decorated bikes, wagons, strollers and more.”

Flower Mound’s Independence Fest is like no other Fourth of July celebration, Molly says.

“There are not too many communities where you can get an entire day’s worth of entertainment for free, including parking and shuttles, on July Fourth. We always aim to organize an amazing day for our residents, topped off with a first-class fireworks show presented by Debra Duffy DDS.
