With more than 130 tasting rooms in Woodinville, it can be challenging for a winery to stand out from the crowd. For Matthews Winery, this has never been a problem. From the inside out, Matthews Winery has been a leader amongst its peers with their innovative approach to wine, food and the relationship between both.
In 2008, the Otis family acquired Matthews Winery, and a lot as changed since then. They looked at the Napa region and realized a farm and wine concept zippered together was the future. A farm was created and cultivated, and it now produces fresh produce and flowers—leading to the farm-to-table wine dinners that take place on the property year-round.
The wine-tasting experience has also changed. The tasting room has had a bright and fresh update and is one of the factors that sets Matthews Winery apart from its neighbors. Guest are provided with a completely unique experience with the option of tasting inside the winery, as well as the option of roaming the grounds—the garden, the patio and the organic farm.
Creating an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming is of utmost importance to the winery.
“It is our sincere hope that when you walk through the door, you are automatically struck with a great feeling,” says Bryan Otis, part-owner of Matthews Winery.
The staff is passionate and well-educated, and their aim is to ensure all guests have a positive experience, regardless of their knowledge of wine.
“We want to make sure that we are carrying the vibe of Matthews into our interaction with guests and delivering the experience that people desire and we understand that comes from the inside out,” explains Leah Bobson, marketing manager for Matthews Winery.
While the staples are always available at Matthews, wines are continually rotating as new wines are introduced every two to three weeks. A few are available outside of the winery, but 75% of the wines Matthews produces are only available in the tasting room.
