Wendy Ingraham is the founder of Robin's Nest Foundation at Sky View Farm in Douglas County. Robin's Nest is a non-profit that uses horse programming to help teens and military veterans experiencing depression, anxiety and trauma-related issues.
Career Path?
I was a pro triathlete for 20 years. I’m a 12-time Ironman champion, which definitely has spurred me on to have determination. I work really hard and believe anything is possible if you keep a positive attitude. After my triathlete career, I transitioned into sports marketing. I live in Castle Pines Village and am active in the community.
What motivates you?
Robins Nest came about when three of my friends committed suicide within three months. That’s when I realized how bad mental health is in America. People of all ages needed help, they needed a place to go to relax breathe and feel free and build confidence and feel valued. Robin's Nest has been up and running for three years thanks to my husband's support and belief in my vision in helping people with depression, anxiety, autism, dyslexia, PTSD and veterans.
What's your goal?
At this point we’re starting to get programs going to provide assistance and help for teens and veterans, to get them on the road to a positive and healthy life. One of the things that needs to be done is building out our offices for therapists and to bring tutors in for the kids. One of the best ways to help us is to spread the word and throughout our community that there are people out there willing to help and that they are here for them providing a safe place that is filled with love understanding blue skies smiles laugh and a little humor. We are here with open arms.
