Local insurance agent, Cristina Walston, is following in the entrepreneurial footsteps of a strong lineage of successful females in her family. With strong ties to the Loveland community for many years, her family has owned successful businesses in the area. Now as an agent with American Family Insurance for the past nine years, Cristina has pulled inspiration from watching the women in her life conquer the challenges of entrepreneurship and succeed. She explains, “A lot of the women in my life have been entrepreneurs or have had supportive roles in large corporations. Watching these women be successful has driven me to be successful as well.”
And successful she has been. Cristina has been an agent with American Family Insurance for nine years and has acquired a team of six that all bring their own unique background, training, and expertise to the table. Together they have amassed a number of awards and accolades in the local community including Agent of the Year in 2021 and 2022 and voted Best of NoCo in 2023.
And while she knows that selling insurance may sound dull, she finds it extremely fascinating and rewarding. She has found intense pride in providing financial protection for when the unexpected occurs. Her team provides auto, home, business, life, umbrella, and farm & ranch insurance—you name it, they’ve got it. “Whatever the need, I'm ready to provide the caring support and dependable service you deserve. Insurance does not have to be complicated, it just needs to be correct.”
She admits that working with small business owners is one of her favorite aspects of her career. She enjoys digging into what her clients do and what they want and then crafting the perfect policy to protect their business. Hand-in-hand with her dedication is her passion for educating her clients. She believes that it’s extremely important for people to understand why they have insurance and what it does. After all, if you’re paying for something you may as well truly understand what it does and have full confidence that you’re not only getting what you pay for, but what you need.
In fact, true success to Cristina is knowing that her customers are not only educated but content and feel secure in what they’re being provided. She explains, “If my phone is ringing because my clients have no understanding of what’s going on, that means something is wrong.” She believes that it’s the combination of dedication and education that has resulted in her success as an agent, as well as her and her team’s honesty and transparency as advisors. She takes her role as an advisor very seriously and finds it extremely important to demonstrate that she’s not just here to sell a product, rather that she’s providing strategic protection.
Her decision to partner with American Family Insurance is strategic as well. She loves being a part of the family that is American Family Insurance and finds them to be incredibly supportive as well as philanthropic. In fact, they just partnered with Habitat for Humanity and will be building a home in every state that they currently are operating in, with a build planned in Northern Colorado this month. “I’m really proud of the company that I work for.”
When she’s not strategically securing the futures of her clients, she loves the outdoor activities that Northern Colorado provides including hiking and backpacking with her dogs.
