Introducing Ashley Corbello

Ashley Corbello, a graduate of the University of Central Missouri, is a Louisiana-born, realist painter of pet portraiture. Her works are a collective group of elements mixing a celebration of bright colors, a resonance of life in the subjects rendered, and built upon a genuine foundation of personal joy, borne from her love of her own pets and her work with local animal rescues. Her work is influenced by the works of Philip Burke and Greg Manchess (whom Ashley had mentored under).

From a technical standpoint, each of her works begins with gathering reference, visual and informational, to planning the layout with at times intricate patterns of her own design. She weaves together typography, modern aesthetic design, and color usage with the main subject and conveys the personality of the pets she portrays. She approaches each painting this way, whether it's a new addition to her highly popular “Conversation Series,” or a private commission from any of her patrons.

Her paintings are a celebration of life, or a life well-lived in memorial. “People know and love their animals, through old photos, through intimate moments, and a in life of memories. I strive to capture those fleeting points in time and put them on canvas as best I can."

Her work will be on display at Art Westport September 7-9. You can also find out more about her on AshleyCorbello.com
