Twinkle Toes Nanny Franchise was founded by Kristy Bickmeyer, who was inspired by her own challenges in finding reliable childcare. She established Twinkle Toes as a trustworthy referral service dedicated to matching families with dependable nannies and babysitters. Robin Reed, the owner of the Nashville Twinkle Toes franchise, first met Kristy when she joined the company as a nanny right after college. For a year, she nurtured four young girls under the age of five and realized the immense potential of the Twinkle Toes brand. Eager to share its service with the world, Robin approached Kristy with the idea of expanding to Tampa. With her support, they launched their third location in November 2014 - eventually, growing to become the largest of 22 locations. Most recently, Robin acquired Nashville, bringing her back to her southern roots!
Ultimately, Robin took over ownership to deepen relationships with both the community and other businesses; her biggest goal continues to be to provide more resources for families and nannies. She shares that Twinkle Toes strives to be a part of the village needed to support working families, adding “[her] mission continues to be about empowering families to find balance between their personal and professional lives, all while ensuring their little ones receive the finest care available. As [she] looks into the future, [she’s] excited to keep forging new ground in entrepreneurial landscape and developing relationships in Nashville while ensuring [their] families and nannies are in good hands.”
While there are two locations in Tennessee, Nashville and Memphis, Twinkle Toes services as much of middle Tennessee as possible. With business in seven states, they have become a blossoming franchise all around the country and are unique from other nanny agencies in the sense that they continue to follow clients along on their journey. Reed shares that they help navigate the nannies and families along the whole process.
“It’s a support system for both,” she shares. “They know they can reach out to me at any time – any hour. I take this as seriously as I would with my own family.”
Twinkle Toes finds their nannies by advertising online, in newspapers, church bulletins, and by word of mouth. Each candidate passes a criminal background check that includes a national search as well as a county search, a civil background check - which will show things like restraining orders, evictions, custody issues, etc. - and a driving record check. Further, the agency themselves will do the majority of the interviewing, so that you don't have to! The Twinkle Toes team spends ample time weeding out the nannies that they know will not be perfect for you and will only send you their top picks. Typically, for a full-time position, you can expect 1-3 applicants.
“The best part of my job is knowing that we are able to reduce the stress felt by families in finding reliable childcare,” shares Kristy. “Any [nanny] we are interviewing or bringing on to Twinkle Toes is somebody that I would consider for my own children,” Reed adds. “We are doing our best to find the best people that will be reliable, and an extension of the parent when they can’t be there.”
