As we all watch the fires in California and pray for the many victims, we can also use it as a wakeup call for all of us. We love the charm of our heavily wooded areas, and like everyone, we have our challenges. Maybe it is time that we are all proactive in protecting our homes and communities. Take a few steps to see what can make a difference. Call your local Fire Marshall, many will do free fire assessments and make recommendations. Check to see if your neighborhood fire hydrant has had regular maintenance. Do you have smoke alarms in your home and a fire extinguisher? See what you can do to keep your home and community safe. If getting a home inspection, ask your inspector if they would make any fire safety recommendations. One small change or improvement can make a difference.
Thank your local firefighters.
