It's Pickin' Time

Get Outside And Experience The Joy Of Music This Summer At Spring Hill's Harvey Park

Summer is for sunshine and spending time with friends—especially with good music. Entering its 12th season, Pickin' in the Park is a fun, family-friendly event where you and your loved ones can soak up the sun, hear amazing local music, eat good food from local food trucks, and simply enjoy summertime.

Matt Meyer, the event organizer, says, "I have been organizing music events ever since college. Small band shows in Martin, Tennessee pizza joints, open mic nights at Ohio University coffee shops and in Jackson, Tennessee bookstores. I love sponsoring live music events and bringing people together."

Meyer adds, "I also just love music. It started with a love of the Beatles and Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Then I learned how to play guitar listening to "Closer to Fine"  by the Indigo Girls and John Denver songs. I enjoy all the musicians I have known and played with for over a decade!”

From May to September, the talent displayed at Pickin’ in the Park ranges from armchair pickers to Nashville Cats. Whether you love folk music, rock, pop, or everything in between, you may get to hear the next big star before they make it big, or you may get to hear someone a little more well known.

Meyer says, "I love the parks in Spring Hill. When I moved here, I just felt like Harvey Park would be an excellent place for a live music event. So I set up my equipment and invited some locals to join me and it just grew from there."

Since the event is completely independent, Meyer and his team rely on sponsors to keep it going. And they’re always looking for more people to partner with. If you’re interested in sponsoring this event OR you’re a musician interested in singing at the event, email Matt Meyers for details at springhillpickininthepark@gmail.com
