For many, a new year means new goals and objectives, habits. Steve Ball, owner and trainer at BEAT Personal Training Blue Ash is aiming to help many in Greater Cincinnati do just that.

Why is right now a great time to think about the importance of physical fitness and training?
The first months of a new year are a powerful time to prioritize fitness because they set the tone for the rest of the year. Many people approach January with fresh motivation and clear resolutions, but without a structured plan, that energy often fades quickly. Establishing consistent fitness habits early helps transform short-term enthusiasm into long-term lifestyle change.

And fitness is so important overall ... why?
Fitness isn’t just about looking good — it’s about living better. Regular exercise strengthens your heart, muscles, and bones, while lowering the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease. It also sharpens your mind, boosts energy, and improves sleep, making everyday life more productive and enjoyable.

How long have you been involved in the world of personal training? What brought you to BEAT?
Fitness has always been more than just a career path for me — it’s been a calling. I’ve seen firsthand how training can transform lives, not only physically, but mentally and emotionally. What drew me to BEAT Personal Training was the chance to take that passion and build something bigger: a place where every person, regardless of background or starting point, could access professional-level coaching.

How might BEAT be ideal for parents wanting to get back into a fitness routine, after kids have gone back to school?
BEAT is just as much for moms and dads working toward personal goals as it is for high school, college, and professional athletes chasing championships. Whether you’re balancing both a family and a career while trying to stay strong and energized, or preparing for the demands of competitive sports, our experienced staff delivers training that meets you where you are … and then pushes you toward your best.

And your team does that how?
We combine advanced equipment, evidence-based programming, and a supportive community to ensure every client feels empowered and capable. Parents find a place where fitness fits into their busy lives, while athletes discover an environment that sharpens their edge. At BEAT, everyone trains with purpose, everyone belongs, and everyone benefits from the same professional-level approach.

Tell us why a fitness routine is more than just strength and cardio?
Exercise is proven to reduce stress by lowering cortisol levels and releasing endorphins, the “feel-good” chemicals that naturally boost mood. It helps ease symptoms of anxiety and depression, sharpens focus, and improves sleep quality — all of which are essential for thriving in today’s busy world. Just as importantly, with a regular routine in place, achieving fitness milestones builds confidence and resilience, reminding you that you’re capable of more than you think.

What are your clients like?
We work with moms and dads who want to stay strong, energized, and healthy while balancing home and work life. We also serve athletes at every stage of their journey — from high school competitors preparing for the next level to college athletes sharpening their performance to professionals maintaining peak condition. We’ve worked with world-class UFC fighters, pro athletes, state champions, and NCAA All-Americans.

Why is the Loveland community such a special one to you?
Loveland is known for its welcoming spirit, family-centered values, and strong sense of connection, all of which align perfectly with our mission of “professional-level training for every person.”

PRO TIPS FROM STEVE

Nutrition
The biggest key to staying on track with diet and nutrition is planning, planning, planning. I map out a week’s worth of meals, and ensure I have everything I need to execute that plan.

Consistency
We won’t always be 100% motivated to hit the gym, but just showing up is the first step.

Soundtrack
I listen to a lot of self-improvement and fitness podcasts.

Attitude
My attitude toward physical fitness is rooted in discipline, balance, and purpose. I see training not just as a way to build strength or endurance, but as a foundation for living with energy, confidence, and resilience.
