Jamie Ivey

Cultivating a Community of Love

Podcast host, bestselling author, inspirational speaker, and talk show host are some of the main accolades we can put next to Jamie Ivey’s name, but mom to four teens and wife to a pastor top the list.

Austin residents since 2008, the Ivey family moved to Dripping Springs in late 2015. Seeking a great school district, some land, and peace and quiet, they fell in love with all the Hill Country has to offer. They knew this is where they wanted to raise their four children.

Jamie’s career blossomed in 2011 when she won a radio contest earning her a position co-hosting with Bob Cole on 98.1 KVET. Being the light she is, Jamie’s personality and love for others shine through her love of writing, speaking, and inspiring others. The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey podcast launched in 2014. A weekly roundtable discussion, The Happy Hour aims to connect with women and encourage them throughout life’s journey.

Talent runs in the Ivey family. Often teaming up, Jamie and husband, Aaron, are mentors through storytelling and being real-life examples. Aaron is the worship pastor at Austin Stone. The singer-songwriter, along with Jamie, co-wrote books, Complement and You Be You.

With a heart for giving and celebrating women, the Ivey team puts on the annual, “Holiday Gift Guide.” In 2016 Jamie began the Gift Guide to highlight small or woman-owned businesses, ethically-made products, companies with give-back models, and cause- or faith-based companies. Launching right before the online holiday rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Jamie uses her platform to uplift and support small businesses and invites others to do the same.

This year’s Holiday Gift Guide Live event was nothing short of magical. Taking place at the Lone Oak Barn in Round Rock, the venue was donned with holiday décor, had booths for shopping, goodie bags, and best of all, amazing company. Jamie along with her humorous co-hosts, Toni Collier and Candace Payne, put on a feel-good show the audience will be craving to attend again in 2023.

The brands featured in this year’s Holiday Gift Guide include: Our Spare Change, Dear Heart, Mercy House Global, Elevate, Ramble and Company, Starfish Project, Revell and Baker Publishing Group, Dwell Differently, From Scratch Farm, Vickery Trading Company, Freeleaf, and Mended.

On November 18, the Holiday Gift Guide will be live as well as the podcast episode with audio from the live October 2 event. A video will also be available on Jamie Ivey’s YouTube channel.

In the spirit of the season, I asked Jamie about some of their Ivey family holiday traditions. “A tradition we have is the kids opening a gift, always pajamas, on Christmas Eve,” Jamie says, “Our favorite tradition as a family is going to the “Elf” quote-along at Alamo Drafthouse every December. This is something we’ve done for almost a decade, and we all look forward to it each year.”
