If you live in the Rocky Mountains, you have likely seen Jstar Jewelry in one of your favorite mountain-town shops. Jessica Rausch, owner and jewelry designer, has her jewelry in more than 30 shops across five states. She also operates her personal studio and storefront on Nevada, in downtown Colorado Springs.
Hobby to Career
For many years, Rausch made jewelry as a hobby to fill her downtime while traveling for work. Co-workers began requesting to purchase her designs, so she turned her hobby into a side gig. Over time, her side gig grew into a full-time, thriving business.
The name of Rausch’s business, Jstar, is a combination of Jessica’s name and her maiden name: Starnes.
Jewelry for Everyone
Rausch creates quality handmade jewelry that is attainable for everyone. She sources cost-effective metals and gems so that she can design and create beautiful and affordable pieces. Instead of using perfect gemstones, Rausch embraces the “rougher cut, more economical stones” because they add a unique look and character to her pieces.
“I realized there was a desire for handmade jewelry that didn’t cost several hundred dollars for a single item,” Rausch says.
Handmade and Unique
Rausch describes her jewelry as rustic, imperfect and unique. She uses a variety of materials in her jewelry and no two pieces are exactly the same. A great feature of Jstar jewelry is that many of the pieces can be coordinated and layered without looking intentional.
“I design jewelry to help people build a collection of handmade pieces to suit their personal style,” she says.
Permanent and Customizable
Jstar also offers a line of permanent and customizable jewelry. Customers can pick a chain, add charms, and have their creations permanently fitted to their wrist or ankle. Rausch says permanent jewelry is a fun way to mark occasions, celebrate milestones, or just enjoy a fun activity with friends.

Along with her handmade jewelry, Rausch also offers jewelry repair services on costume or fashion jewelry.
