Every brand has a heartbeat — and for me, part of that heartbeat lives in my kitchen.
If you’ve followed along for any amount of time, you know that design and lifestyle are deeply connected in my world. The comfort you feel in a beautifully layered home is the same comfort you feel when something warm is simmering on the stove. Design elevates the space… but food brings it to life.
And that’s exactly why I started sharing more of my son Josiah’s journey into cooking through Josiah’s Culinary Adventures.
Josiah has always had this spark — a natural curiosity about flavors, textures, and the joy that comes from feeding the people you love. What began as him pulling a chair to the counter to “help” quickly turned into him wanting to learn real techniques, real recipes, and the art of creating something from scratch.
So for his very first recipe, he chose something that feels like home:
Hearty Vegetable Soup.
Why Vegetable Soup?
Because it’s simple.
It’s comforting.
It’s nourishing.
And it’s the kind of recipe that teaches the foundations of cooking:
chopping safely
building flavors
seasoning with intention
layering ingredients slowly
tasting as you go
It’s the perfect beginner dish, but it’s also the kind of recipe every family reaches for when they want something warm, grounding, and made with love.
When we cooked it together, he said, “I want people to feel happy when they eat this.”
And that’s when I realized — his journey is not just about cooking…
it’s about connection.
Josiah’s Hearty Vegetable Soup
(Kid-made, family-approved)
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
5 tomatoes
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
5 cups vegetable broth
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 lime, juiced
1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
Process (as Josiah explains it):
“In a large pot, sauté onions in oil over medium high heat until tender."
“Add garlic and tomatoes, cook for 2 minutes, stirring often.”
“Add potatoes, broth, cumin, and lime juice. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.”
“Add beans, cilantro, spinach, salt, and pepper. Simmer until heated through.”
It’s simple — but it’s soulful.
And watching him cook it reminded me of something important:
Homes are not just made of furniture and décor.
They’re made of moments.
Moments at the counter, stirring a pot, laughing, learning, experimenting, and tasting the world one recipe at a time.
How This Connects to the Brand
Infinite Possibilities Luxury Interiors has always been about creating a home that feels warm, elevated, and lived in.
And what is more lived-in than cooking with your children?
In fact, many pieces in my Comfortable Luxe shop — my pebbled glassware, serving boards, linen textiles, and artisan bowls — were chosen because they make these moments feel even more special.
Because the heart of a beautiful home isn’t perfection.
It’s intention.
Comfort.
Connection.
And a delicious pot of soup on the stove.
What’s Next for Josiah?
More recipes.
More learning.
More storytelling.
And more moments that inspire families to slow down, cook together, and enjoy the beauty of home.
This is just the beginning of Josiah’s Culinary Adventures, and I couldn’t be prouder — or more excited to share this journey with you.
