Local Tennessee native and U.S veteran, Ricky Turner, is in the business of building friendships with his more personable approach to transportation. His company, Turner’s Transportation and Travel is quickly rising in popularity all over Middle Tennessee. During his lifetime, Ricky has cultivated deep roots and connections within the city of Murfreesboro. In fact, he is an MTSU graduate, a former employee of Nissan, an investor in real estate, and the owner of a previous local restaurant called The Cedar Bucket. Ricky and his wife, Stephanie, a teacher for over 30 years at Bradley Academy, have two daughters together, who are also big supporters of the importance of community and family. Back in 2016, Ricky noticed the vast population growth of Murfreesboro and decided to find a solution to the huge demand for public transportation. While Uber and Lyft are quite famous in the world of commute, they lack relationships and dependency in their everyday business. After previously working for Uber, Ricky found that while it solved a need, corporate transportation companies did not serve the individual enough. He created a business that focuses on the person over the destination and is always available to serve. No matter the time, Ricky is there for his customers and guarantees service for all transportation needs besides medical transportation. What originally started as a side hustle, turned into a lifestyle. The strong level of trust Ricky and his entire family have built over the years has created countless friendships with residents from all walks of life. Ricky described it as, “Turning clients into friends. I am your friend, meaning I am always here for you.” Community and relationships are the most important thing to Ricky in his everyday life and in his business. “Giving back is so important to me. I just want people to see us as more than a driving service, but as serving the community as well. My success is based on my reputation with the community. People feel comfortable with me. They trust me with their little ones.” Turner’s Transportation and Travel also offers free rides to political events like voting polls for all local citizens. While the holidays are a time full of festive celebrations and fun parties, it is also the season for colds and the flu.
